Lute

Hideki is a specialist in early music and performs on the lute and other early plucked strings, including renaissance and baroque lutes, archlute, baroque guitar, and theorbo. In addition to studying lute at UC Irvine, he also studied at the prestigious Accademia Internazionale della Musica in Milan, Italy with Paul Beier. He has performed extensively in California, and was featured as a soloist in the Santa Cruz Baroque Festival (1999). He has also collaborated with many notable performers and ensembles, including John Schneiderman (guitar and lute), California Gamba Consort, Lux Musica, and Stanford University Opera. Most recently, he played for Portland Opera in their production of Ulisse by Monteverdi (2006).
